Gholam Reza Azhari (1912 – November 5, 2001) was a military leader and Prime Minister of Iran.
Born in Shiraz, he enrolled in Officer Training School and climbed his way rapidly up the ranks. He served as Interim Prime Minister of a military government, until a civilian government could be chosen. He served as Prime Minister from November 6, 1978 to December 31, 1978.
He became a Major General of The Imperial Army of Iran. On December 21, 1978, Azhari, then the Prime Minister, told U.S. Ambassador to Iran William Sullivan that, "You must know this and you must tell it to your government. This country is lost because the Shah cannot make up his mind."[1]
He died in the United States of America.
